Discovering God Together
Mills Hill Baptist Church is in Mills Hill Road on the border of Middleton and Chadderton in Greater Manchester. It's a place where we discover God, get to know him and are changed by him - a place to learn, grow, and enjoy. We come together to live out Jesus' teaching through inspiring worship, relevant Bible-based preaching, and friendships where we can share all that we are discovering of God's amazing love.
We meet together every Sunday at 10.45 am. We pray, listen to the Bible, hear a talk, sing some great songs - and enjoy coffee and a chat afterwards Everyone is together for the first part of the service then the children and young people go to their different activities.
On the first Sunday of the month, adults and children stay together for all-age worship. A room is available for pre-school children if it is needed.
We also meet at 6.00 pm most Sundays.
Our evening service programme includes in depth Bible-study, evenings that focus on prayer, reflective worship and other themes.
Our Wednesday coffee mornings in the church are for everyone from the oldest to the youngest. You are invited to join us any time between 10:00am and 12:00 noon. We have toys, fun and singing for babies and pre-school children plus the opportunity to relax and chat for everyone. In school holidays we offer Coffee and Craft mornings in the Community Hall in partnership with Oldham Play Action Group.
We believe in being 'World-Wide Christians'. We support BMS World Mission in their work all over the world.
Our link missionaries are Kathryn and Ashleigh who are both based in Thailand.
We are part of the national movement of Baptists Churches through Baptists Together.
Beautiful Hands is our 2018 Charity of the Year based in Laos.
Locally we support the Middleton Central Foodbank.
We are here to discover God together.
We do this through worshipping together,
being God’s family together,
learning to follow Jesus together,
and being equipped together to be part of God’s mission in the world
in the power of the Holy Spirit so that people can discover the love of God for themselves.
James & Ruth
James is our minister and Ruth is our Community Worker.
James was born and brought up in Scotland. He has a maths degree from Cambridge University and qualified as a Management Accountant. After six years work with British Telecom he retrained at Spurgeon's College, London. James is an enthusiastic communicator whose greatest joy is to help people discover God.
Ruth has spent many years working with families and children, having qualified as a children’s nurse. She now works to develop our community links in partnership with other local organisations. She leads our weekly coffee morning and supports community projects including the lunch club run by the Firwood and District Residents Association.
Ruth loves to break down the barriers between church and community and to express the love of God in practical ways. Ruth and James are keen walkers and cinema goers.
